The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) has announced a wide-ranging calendar of August activities through its flagship initiative, the Knowledge Lounge. The events are designed to support MBRF’s mission of nurturing lifelong learning, instilling reading as a daily habit, and fostering innovation through creativity and dialogue.

The schedule opened in Canada, with a reading of Our Children Are Gems, But We Are Blacksmiths and the interactive What Are You Reading? activity, where participants exchanged book recommendations through Instagram clips. Other events included the Writer of the Future writing workshop and the Art of Public Speaking, aimed at improving communication skills.

Children participating in MBRF’s Our Knowledge Summer initiative explored The Little Prince, using the tale to reflect on values and ethics. The We Create an Illustrated Story workshop allowed them to visualise their creativity, while the Youth Knowledge Club discussed Artificial Intelligence and Literature: Challenges and Opportunities. Readers in Al Ain debated the novel Azazel.

Expanding its international reach, the initiative brought Book from My Library to Alexandria. In the UAE, children engaged in Arabic calligraphy through the Little Calligrapher of Knowledge. Collective readings of Finding Your Voice were held in Sharjah and Ajman, encouraging dialogue and literary exchange.

The month’s programme also incorporated a Diary Writing workshop for personal reflection and a commemorative event for World Humanitarian Day, focusing on volunteerism and compassion.

Among the youth-oriented events was An Inspiring Story Told by a Bird, encouraging creative narrative building. Khorfakkan hosted a personal finance management session, while Stories Inspired by Pictures linked visual art to storytelling.

In Abu Dhabi, participants explored the Japanese philosophy of Ikigai, followed by the Writing Lounge, which spotlighted literary works. Fujairah marked Emirati Women’s Day with sessions celebrating women’s experiences, while Dubai and Al Ain will conclude the month with events highlighting women’s literature and philosophical storytelling.

Additional workshops featured throughout August included Whose Doll Is This?, Your Favourite Character: Let’s Create It Together, and the Read Book Series, alongside returning favourites like Let’s Create an Illustrated Story and Little Calligrapher of Knowledge.

Through this multi-layered agenda, the Knowledge Lounge demonstrates its commitment to spreading knowledge, inspiring creativity, and cultivating inclusive dialogue.
