    • Landmark waste reduction programme prevents up to 40 metric tonnes of CO₂ each year
    • Landfill waste down 10%, guest satisfaction up by as much as 10%

Central Hotels & Resorts, one of the UAE’s most dynamic hospitality groups, has unveiled strong sustainability results through a series of operational innovations designed to enhance both efficiency and environmental performance. Efforts include curbing food waste, replacing plastics, and introducing data-driven waste management.

The company’s “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” approach has proved especially impactful, achieving a 12% drop in food waste across all properties and cutting annual food spend by 5%–7%.

By sending organic waste to Dubai Municipality’s Waste-to-Energy facility, the group diverts roughly 10% of its total waste from landfill, saves AED 20,000–25,000 in disposal costs, and avoids releasing between 30–40 metric tonnes of CO₂ per year.

Menus are actively shaped by guest consumption data, allowing restaurants to fine-tune buffet quantities and offer portion flexibility in à la carte service. This targeted approach limits overproduction while accommodating customer preference.

All guest rooms now feature eco-friendly, fibre-based amenities in place of single-use plastics, marking another step towards a lower environmental footprint.

The changes have been well received. Guest satisfaction ratings have risen between 7% and 10%, with repeat visitors often noting the brand’s green credentials. Staff engagement is also high, with 80% expressing pride in working for a sustainability-focused employer and many contributing new ideas for ongoing improvements.

“Our sustainability roadmap is not just about reducing waste or lowering costs—it’s about creating lasting value for our guests, employees, and community,” said Abdulla Ahmad Ali Al Abdulla Al Ansari, Chief Operating Officer and Group General Manager of Central Hotels & Resorts. “These initiatives reflect our long-term vision of responsible hospitality, where operational excellence goes hand in hand with environmental stewardship.”

Future plans include trialling energy-saving technologies, improving water efficiency, and advancing sustainable sourcing partnerships.

Central Hotels & Resorts continues to lead by example, showing how responsible hospitality can flourish alongside premium guest service.
