Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai (SISD), part of the Nord Anglia Education family, is redefining education by becoming one of the first schools worldwide to embed the BTEC Level 2 Esports qualification into its curriculum. The move represents a strategic step towards preparing students for the digital economy.
Set to launch in August 2025 with EStars as its partner, the elective targets Grades 6 and 7 students and sits alongside an extensive menu of innovative subject options. These include Instrumental Music (in collaboration with The Juilliard School), Computer Science, Entrepreneurial Thinking, and French, German, and Spanish Language Acquisition.
Designed to complement the IB MYP framework, these electives offer opportunities for learners to pursue personal interests beyond the conventional classroom while still mastering eight core subject areas: Language Acquisition, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Sciences, Individuals and Societies, Arts, Design, and Physical & Health Education.
Esports introduces students to a high-growth global sector and aligns with the Dubai Future Foundation Programme for Gaming, anticipated to create 30,000 new jobs by 2033. Accredited by Pearson Education, this qualification bridges academic learning and professional opportunities by providing students with real-world industry knowledge and valuable professional networks.

SISD continues to lead with balanced technology policies. Students in secondary school hand in their mobile phones each morning, with access restricted until the end of lessons. In addition, public spaces remain device-free, encouraging face-to-face interaction. Every class begins with a 10-minute technology-free session, supporting mindful digital use and improved focus.
